Greetings from the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Division Director
Hello and welcome, thanks for visiting our site! I am Dr. Michael Koster, the Director for the Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases here at Hasbro Children’s Hospital. I have the privilege of standing on the shoulders of my predecessors, true giants, and pioneers of our field. It is my honor and pleasure to lead this current group of talented and amazing faculty and fellows. Our typical consultant team is comprised of medical students, residents, fellows and faculty from Alpert Medical School of Brown University. Our division is team-based, our work is collaborative, and we often sit at the helm of transdisciplinary care. We provide family-inclusive, patient-based care and come to the bedside with a comprehensive approach as it relates to infections, both focal and systemic. Pediatric Infectious disease consultations are critical to the management of children hospitalized with infections and specifically those complicated by host and pathogen factors. We provide the best possible patient care with a focus on evidence-based education for our trainees. We see the full spectrum of ages and diseases across inpatient and outpatient settings; consulting on premature babies in the neonatal intensive care unit to young adults with HIV in our outpatient clinics. We are uniquely poised as diagnosticians to provide care across all pediatric disciplines, in all complex patients and in all areas of the hospital. Our faculty have diverse research and academic interests, creating a unique and nurturing environment for fellowship training. We collaborate with leadership across key areas of Infection Control, Hospital Epidemiology, Antimicrobial and Diagnostic Stewardship. We value our patients, families, and community through our commitment to provide the most equitable, safe, and highest quality care for all patients. I hope you take the opportunity to see more of what makes our team great here on this website.
Warmest Regards,
Mike Koster
